Environmental and Permitting Manager

Redeux Energy is seeking an Environmental and Permitting Manager for utility-scale solar and storage projects that will support local, state, and federal critical issues evaluation and permitting for utility-scale projects nationally. Working with Redeux’s Development and Engineering teams, the person selected for this role will be responsible for all environmental and permitting activities required for solar and storage projects being developed across the United States.


Redeux Energy is looking for a highly motivated individual who has a desire to contribute to the renewable energy industry. Ideal candidate will have a strong background in all aspects of environmental and other jurisdictional project permitting at the federal, state, and local levels.

Position Responsibilities:

The Environmental and Permitting Manager is a member of Redeux’s Technical Team and is responsible for supporting all aspects of local, state, and federal permitting and compliance for utility-scale solar and storage projects in multiple states for both regulated and competitive markets. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage land-use and environmental permitting processes, including:
  • Researching and understanding local, state, and federal laws
  • Manage/prepare permit applications
  • Represent Redeux Energy at stakeholder meetings
  • Assist with local law/code amendment processes
  • Manage environmental review and permitting processes including wetland, endangered species, and archaeological/cultural
  • Obtain proposals for environmental surveys, manage consultants providing technical support, and review deliverables
  • Track and schedule permit tasks and provide regular updates to manager and project team
  • Assist with preparation of project budgets
  • Conduct site review of greenfield sites to inform project planning
  • Support project mapping and planning
  • Provide support through project financing and construction to ensure permit compliance
  • Develop and support project planning initiatives
  • Write RFPs and review and analyze technical and cost proposals
  • Serve as an internal trusted advisor to the Development Team, helping to identify issues early in the development lifecycle
  • Coordinate with Engineering Managers to ensure SoW and deliverables of 3rd party consultant(s) are addressing required engineering design package for necessary permit filing.
  • Additional duties as required

Qualifications:

Our ideal candidate will have experience with permitting and environmental management of large capital-intensive infrastructure projects, preferably within the renewable energy industry.  They can work well in a matrixed organization and interact well with all the functional groups.

  • B.A., B.S., in environmental studies or closely related field
  • 7-10 years of environmental permitting experience
  • 2-4 years of renewable energy industry experience
  • Familiarity with the National Environmental Policy Act, Sec. 404 of the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, and State Historic Preservation Offices, and state Public Utility Commissions
  • Familiarity with state and local government processes, including zoning and conditional/special use permitting
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment in both team and individual settings
  • Must be flexible and detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Up to 20% travel required
  • Experience with the following software:
  • Microsoft programs
  • ESRI ArcMap
  • Google Earth Pro

This position will be filled as a Full Time Position.

  • Senior Manager level position will be considered for a highly qualified candidate
